[TEC] Improved SD radar

While I upgrade an Improved SD radar in my campaign, I noticed that the new radar will never pick up contacts. Everytime my WO screams "Aircraft spotted!" and the damn plane is already in a bomb run. Anyone encountered this, and how about a fix?

I encountered it and installed Trigger Maru 1.6 to fix it.

Are you sure it's on? I notice that every time I dive and surface, it is off, and I need to turn it on and order full sweeps manually.

Hi all,

Yes, later on in the war it seems the Nips are able to track you down from your radar and radio broadcasts, to counter this, your RO simply turns off the radar. So instead of just popping up from 200ft and getting buzzed, take a look at PD then at RD (radar depth..) and THEN pop up, this usually ensures you're not buzzed by any A/C.

Folks, there is NO CONTROL over the SD radar. If it works, it ALWAYS activates when you are surfaced. Heck, you can't even get to see the screen!

The SJ radar, on the other hand, you CAN turn on and off.

I do agree with the radar depth comment. I use that a lot. TM even adds a nice hotkey for it!

Hi,

Oh God... I should learn to read the ENTIRE post more often.. I assumed we were talking of the SJ series of radar, whereas you must manually turn the radar on. If I would have been smart enough to read thoroughly, I would have realised it was the SD series, this radar is CONSTANTLY as said above ALWAYS working, wether you want it or not (really who wouldnt want this thing working..) It is undetermined wether or not this helps the Nips home in on your radar returns.

Krauter

Actually, I am already running with TM 1.6, but my improved SD radar still picks up nothing until my WO spots the enemy plane.

Aye, I noticed this too yesterday whilst playing, although I was playing alot with my radar with the orders to sweep once and then shut down.. maybe this affects the SD radar..

I have TM (as well as Reflections on the Water), I will get a radar detection on SD about 5 minutes before the aircraft appear.. but they don't get physically spotted by my watch until about 40 seconds before they are shootable (ie, you can see the whites of their eyes).. which is probably rather realistic, considering the visibility sometimes.

Interesting, TM solved all my radar problems... Maybe you should ask in the TM thread. Someone there is more likely to be able to help. Out of curiosity is it on just one ship or have you gotten a new command and still have the problem?
