Sh4 System Requrements

Yes, I know the the requirements. What I want to ask is that HOW WELL will my system run SH4? Athlon 2000+, 2.00 Ghz, Geforce 6600LE 128mb, 1gb of ram. (of course i use enditall and all the other program killing devices)

Also, a guy is offering me a 7600GT, pci, 258 mb for $70. Is it worth it? Will it improve Sh4 performance DRASTICALLY?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Your video card is below minimum requirements. With that card and 1GIG of RAM the game will be like a slide show. I have the 7600GT and 2GIGS of system RAM and the game runs like a dream.

I thought geforce 6200 was the minimum? I have a 6600LE.

Technically you are correct, but that card will not run the game at all well with 1GIG of RAM. Even if you double the RAM, your card will force you to run at low to mid level graphical settings.

thanks for the reply. what I would like to know is, is the 7600 a good deal for $70?

TDK1044 09-26-07 08:31 AM

Yep. I paid $119 for mine.

There is a dramatic difference between the 6600 and the 7600.

It is also woth a try to check out som auction sites, since people are upgrading like mad all over the globe. A used 7900Gt shouldnt set you back too much, and is much better than the 7600.

I know, but my old pc only supports pci or agp not pci-e.

I'm stuck with 6200 256MB AGP card due to having only a half hight slot! Runs the game ok with 2GB of RAM and a 3Ghz processor.

Of course I'm not running the game at the highest settings!

A 7600GT will rock a 6600LE, a 7600GT runs roughly equivalent to a 6800GT or so in my experience. However, if the 7600GT is a PCI card (not PCI-Express), that will severly hinder its real-world capabilities...by how much I couldn't say. It will be able to process the graphics much faster than an AGP 6600LE, but due to PCI bus, transferring that information to the CPU and RAM will be less than optimal.

this raises the question: if my pc doesnt have a pci-e slot, can I add one manually, or do i have to replace the entire mobo?

Your looking at replacing your mobo in that case.

I chose to keep my old AGP computer, as it is powerful enough even today, and bought a 7800GS card which I overclocked. So I can play SH4 in 1280*960 (graphics on high) and even latest games like Bioshock (1024*768, all graphics maxed out).

I'm talking about an AMD Athlon XP Barton 3200+ (2.2 GHz) with 2 Gb of RAM.

jas39 09-28-07 07:49 PM

also, is sh4 one of those games that make a big difference from 1gb to 2gb of memory?

John Channing 09-29-07 07:26 AM

yes.

Let me re-state that...

YES!
