My U-boat goes into crash-dive - please advise

I have had had a couple of instances now where I have saved my patrol at an appropriate point. The next time I have gone in and tried to load where I left off, the boat instantly goes into a crash dive :nope:. The boat dives down to 500m+ in about 5 seconds (faster than a free fall parachutist). I have tried to surface etc but the boat does not move. The only way I have found around this is to go to a previous save resulting in a loss of hours of patrolling the high seas. Do any of you know what is causing this fault? I am finding this particularly frustrating in that there seems to be no way round it and I keep losing valuable patrols :damn:.

Do you use SH3 weather ?

...or "Save and Exit" v. "Save?"

Its best to save during good weather with no ships in the area and on the surface, preferably using save (instead of save and exit) then abandoning the career.

However, Sh3 weather has been known to cause the issue.

If you are using Sh3 weather, rerun it just before launching the game and all should be well.

And something else. It is not advised to save your game while you're deep under water - below 160 m (red area on deapthgauge.) It doesn't matter (below 160 m) if weather is good or not and how many objects are in that area. The essence is your depth. Save game made below 160 m deapth - certain death.:rotfl:I made some research to confirm that, so that's should be raliable.:yep:

Blow balast untill you reach a response,
if it doesn't work mate,
call the Boats Priest....And say good by!:yep:

Thanks for all the great advice. I never save submerged and so I know it is not that. I will try your suggestions this evening when I get home and hopefully keep my current patrol :D.

Update: I arrived home and tried the recommendation that I run SH3 Weather before restarting SH3 Commander. It worked a treat. Thanks guys.
