Help: Doomed to sail the seas forever
Hi
I'm playing 1.2. My sub is a S-class based in Freemantle. On my current patrol, the 5th, I completed three missions. Then I got assigned a fourth one, but was had no fish left and was short on fuel, so I decided to return to base - thinking there's nothing to lose by not completing yet another mission. When I got to Freemantle, the docking screen only gave me 2 options: Refit or postpone. I tried to park the boat over the anchor, I clicked the little anchor button in the top right corner of the screen. Everything. So I thought "oh, well ..." refitted and set out again. Now I've completed another 3 missions, I'm down to 1/3 fuel and HQ just assigned me a mission that most likely will make it impossible to reach port. What the is going on here? Have I ticked someone seriously off since I literally have to spent months at sea, doomed to run out of fuel? thnx/EoE |
Your base has changed, have a look for a fix here:http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=113040

Thanks for the answer. Guess this is the way to do it, until a patch hopefully comes with a more permanent fix. thnx/EoE |

As to this 'bug' it does occasionaly occur but 90% of the time the message is given to the skipper but they miss it, then they save, reload at some point and that trivial piece of information (base change) is lost. I guess we need a big red pop up or something that CANT be missed. |
How about an icon (or color) that distinguishes your "home" base from other bases or refitting locations. I thought it was funny that they all look the same.

I too have been sailing forever
Hello all,
I am not new to the boards, but damn it's been a while. I've been out to sea a lot steamin on deployment. Thank goodness no more 84 hour:arrgh!:weeks!:D My old name on the boards was Boilerman_01. New E-mail account, and I doubt I would be able to retrieve my old name. It's great to be back. I too had been underway forever to find out I can't go back to my original base ad end the mission. I have about 130,000 tons of ships sunk. There's a whole lot of those red broke in half ships on my screen. I found the yamato also, I almost became a permanent member of davey jones locker, but managed to escape the tin cans after laying 4 torps into the yamato. Ever try to go back to base when your low on fuel at 2 knots? Takes foreeeever:damn: . My star has still not gone grey and I have been patrolling a long while. Will try and stick it out for a little while longer and see if it says mission complete. I am the victim of an unannounced transfer. I hope they can PCS my stuff from brisbane! Thanks for the link and help. Take it easy. |
Where do you think they get the crew for the Flying Dutchman from? :arrgh!:

Ducimus has a good thread regarding fuel conservation, plus there are some other good ones on the subject. RDP |

As for patrol areas, the stock games wants you to be within a 60nm radios of the map symbol. Just draw a circle around it with 59nm or whatever suits you. Stay within that circle for 48 hours on your search patterns. Note: If you don't change the map zoom level or go to a different station and then back, the orange patrol marker won't change to gray when your 48 hours are up(unless you do something to change the map like that). So check the day and approximate time you enter the circle and just plan on zooming out/in or something after 2 days from that time. |
Not sure the campaign can trigger that (popping up s new icon). Possibly a trigger, but it would be complicated to do. I think you'd need to make a unique set of early war Asiatic Fleet missions, and each would haver an event trigger on a certain date to set a new objective.
So it MIGHT be doable, but it would be a bunch of work. If I get around to redoing some campaign mission objectives for the Manila boats, I'll test it. (real missions for them like sitting off jap ports across the way in Viet nam, or sitting close to the coast of the philipines for s boats). tater |
