Has anyone actually paid for WinRAR or WinZIP?

Nope, been using it for years. :rock:

I use freeware software instead of these applications.
Just as good, but no nags. :up:

I thought WinRar is free now (as in no money).

I payed for Hypersnap 4 several years ago, since I was using it a lot, and liked it. Lost it all during a later reinstall and system change, and was to lazy to care, so then I did not care for not paying for Hypersnap 5, using this one rarely only. I am now using a totally different and free screenshot program anyway.

Using free RAR and ZIP software also.

So, i am willing to pay a fee for a tool if i like it and use it often, and the price is adequate. But I do not pay for it time and again, and updates, or if there are free alternatives that serve their purpose satisfactory.

I use WinRAR but haven't paid for it. I don't mind nags because I rarely use it, probably because all the places I would typically download compressed files from now require stupid registration and waiting in lines.

Why pay for something when you can pick up a freeware or Open Source one which dose the job for you.
