After U-53 having sustained great damage early on the patrol. I, Kptlt. Johan Sebastian Balz, being a great Uboat commander sank 50,726 BRT on my way back to base. :smug: I also continued daily choir practice.

U-53, now nicknamed The Roasted Pinguin, will dock in Lorient's Kereman docks at 0930 hrs. on 12 January 1941 for a triumfal return. At that time I will be available to accept greetings, kudos, congratulations and accolades. :smug:

With the money made from the U-53 choir performances while ashore I nvite all Kaleuns for a party worthy of Balz El Magnifico. Where you will again have an opportunity of showing your esteem toward my persona. :smug:

Entertainment will be provided by my choir with my songs:

I am currently in Lorient writing up my patrol report - which will be very as I sunk no ships. Personally I blame BDu for incorrect weather reports. They said it would be clear skies with good visability, instead it was heavy fog, rain most of the patrol. Enough ranting, I will be able to come to you party, as I've decided to put my next patrol off for another 3 days.

I do not miss any retourn party of my fellow Kaleunts...so prepare a big bottle of red wine and conhac!!! :rock:

I'll bring the Schnapps, fresh from my supplier on the supply ship 'Bessel'

Balz made it back. Though substantially damaged, the U-53 hull fared reasonably well. His demand for a IXC boat was denied.

BDU gave me a day off from cleaning ashtrays at the Chateau des Sardines to organize the party. So, the booze up is on.

Good to see you back. I myself have been experencing some techincal (computer) problems here recently. They had tried to set my Boat up with a new device they call a" torpedo data computer". Had a few problems, but maybe it will work itself out. This device may have some benefits in the future...............Se you at the Ball.......
