no survivors??
first mission of this type and they're not there. had to be on station no later that 10Nov44 and made it at approx 1400hrs that date. the map icon shows they're there, but it's very faint, with a time of 2330, but no date. it took me a bit over a day and a half at flank to make it, with TC, there from just N of Luzon. this a broken mission, or is ther some other trick to it? as of nownow, my boat is right on top of a survivor:-?
edit: is it possible they drifted? |
The aviators you need to rescue DO drift away and eventually dissapear. Stay close to the rescue sign and you'll get more aviators to rescue -- however don't rely on your crew for spotting them: a rested watchcrew at battle stations can spot an aviator in calm seas from about a little over one mile. You can spot the red smoke from up to 6miles if you take to the brdge and scan the horizon for flares yourself.

The "rescue survivors" is the most aggrivating 'mission' you can get.
Whenever I get it I just roll my eyes and go sink shipping instead. Not very solid 'role playing' but Id rather take the renown hit than spend hour after hour looking for downed pilots that drift faster than my sub can move. |
there was no red smoke when i arrived on station:-? . gonna try something i read in another post, using the hydrophones. maybe i'll get them that way

hehe, i got that same mission, i remember cause of the nlt date. it was a very frustrating mission but eventually did get sime survivors.
