Atlantic missions with sh4
Hi all...
Recently I have learned that in 1943 US submarines covered Allied landings in French's african coast with the activity of a sub group (forget the exact name) based in Scotland. Also if the brand-new Gato-class subs sent there were hampered by severe problems with H.O.R. engines, they managed to sink or damage some German & French blockade runners. So.... Is possible to add these missions to SH4?? Obviously adding new bases....Surely this options will increase gameplay:up: |
Besides the participation in the Allied landings cover, a number of US subs did patrols from Britain (five each).
|
This would be a nice addition to the game :yep:
RDP |
It would be a nice addition to the game, but it would become rather boring after few patrols I think. No ships to sink, just cruising around.... hey, that sounds too familiar.... SH3?:hmm:
|
More traffic ( german/vichyfrench) could be added, and AI u-boats could be the targets for special anti submarine patrols in the North Sea ( also if not historically, just to improve gameplay) or in the Bay of Biscay:hmm: ....Not boring at all!

In any case, I also would like to see that added to SH4. The more options, the merrier, and with the modular campaign approach that should be certainly easy to do with the converted ships from SH3  |
That would put so much stress on the engine it wouldn't even be funny. Basically you'd need additional campaign layers to represent the atlantic traffic.
|
Oh.....
Also if only two or three layers of german ships are added? :hmm: May be then use a JSGME ready replacement campaign with blank files for all Pacific layers when using the Atlantic one and vice-versa :ping: |

Can't wait to return to the Atlantic :arrgh!:

Why not have success?

Their efficence was somehow low because of severe problems with diesel engines and because the skippers were not allowed to fire more than two or three torps in each attack. ( to have the maximum number of weapons to fire during a possible encounter with a raider or the Tirpitz ( in case of an atlantic raid bismarck style) ,the real targets intended for these patrols). |

Possibly in the future but not at the moment I think. |
Agreed, thou if one was to do Atlantic patrols do you really need all the Pacific traffic? Good idea Hitman! disabling the Pac and enabling the Atlantic traffic via JSGME. And, All the ships/boats, missions, coastal and harbor traffic, ports, and career starting locations need to be ported or built from scratch. But a great idea once done!

There can't be a big load on the engine because US sub patrols took place only for one year or so. |
