I'm new to SH3

Well like I said i'm new to SH3 and was wondering what mod's should I be getting. I've heard alot about GWX in the SH4 forums so i thought I would ask you guy.

Well GWX is certainly a good bit of kit to utilise has a mass of content and graphical improvements, not to mention a more formidable instead of your usual dumb as a bag of spanners enemy AI. However if you are new to SH3 as in brand new never touched it before... if I were you I'd play a little ordinary SH3 without any mods first BEFORE putting in any of the big Supermods.

I am also very new (6 weeks) at this game.
My suggestion is to go to the GWX download site & download and read through the GWX manual.
This is the most well done manual I have ever run across. It has a wealth of background Sub/WWII information that will help in your thinking as to why & how the game is played.

I had to read it through twice before things started to make sense, but it was well worth it.

This game has a very big learning curve (for me it's double that) so the more that you know about the history etc the better

Enjoy...

GWX that's all you need mate :yep:

I would start with just the basic version of SH3, for a few weeks at least, just so you get used to the game. Then when your ready, install GWX or any of the other supermods (i.e NYGM).

Personally i'd recommened GWX:up:

I second that emotion. I've been playing stock SHIII for about two months and just recently installed GWX (after upgrading to 2GB RAM and a decent video card). Holy guacamole -- what an upgrade! :o It's visually stunning, and the additional ship types and features are great. The Kiel Canal alone -- very cool. It is tougher, though. My hat's off to the team that has the time and skills and develop something like this... and the graciousness to offer it free to the community.

Thanks for your input guys. I picked up GWX and SH3 commander last night. And gave it a spin. WOW just amazing. I cant wait to put in a real effort tonight after work.
