Possible to make sub-vs-sub missions?

I had heard rumors that some modders were going to adapt SH4's engine to a re-made SH3 (essentially taking all the great things from SH3 GWX/other modpacks and making them an extension of SH4. Like I said, just a rumor, since it is baffling the amount of work that would be required.

One thing I was curious about, is if that IS possible, or it is possible to make entirely new submarines to base them off other designs either not in the game or belonging to different nations, along with their types of torpedoes, and have a multiplayer mission where you essentially pit different submarines against one another.

The main reason I think it would be fun is because there'd be a great opportunity to practice stealth against a human opponent. I would think it would offer up a much greater challenge, and with acoustic torpedoes would be pretty exciting (does hydrophone track torpedoes? I'd think it should given their noise)

I sure miss all the stuff we could do with SH2 and Destroyer Command in
multiplayer. Jester & I used to do the sub vs. sub all the time along with
going up against player driven DDs......

sub vs sub doesnt make much sence in ww2 scenario. There were subs ambushed by another subs when they were on surface but there were no real sub battles.

However i think it is possible to turn a sub into a destroyer. You can take already existing destroyer model and create new interior with 3ds. Set it up so it cannot dive and drop dc instead of firing torpedoes. SHould work actualy.
