Scratch one flattop....
April 1940, GWX 90% realism. I am commanding U-36; enroute to my patrol are in BE34. I receive a radio report of an enemy task force headed north.
http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/a...lipboard02.jpg I quickly dash to get myself in position, and within an hour or so, we get a firm hydrophone contact. I dive to 60m, and as the lead escort passes, I quickly move to periscope, execute a hard left turn, and spot my target... an Illustrious Class Carrier. First one I've ever seen! I fire a three tube salvo, and dive like mad. We hope for the best. Two explosions are heard, and we manage to slip away. An hour later, my hydrophones pick up some very slow moving prop's to the north. We beat north, and what do I see, but my carrier, heavily damaged and limping north. http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/a...lipboard05.jpg The coup de grace. http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/a...lipboard03.jpg Sinking such a beautiful ship almost makes me sad. Not bad for my first carrier.... We are pleased. |
Not bad at all Herr Kaleun
Have you bagged a battleship? Muchos tonnage with one of them. I personally recommend one for your next sinking. |
Good effort there:up: Drinks are on me!

Yeah, wassail!! :()1: slurp, slurp, slurp
|
Nice one!
Glad to see you survived it! |
Good work. In all my SH3 patrols I've managed to bag only two BBs, but have yet to even come across a CV.

Biggest thing warship wise I have seen so far, the HMS Fiji, 10,000 ton Light Cruiser.....I sent her to the bottom during the Invasion of Norway

Great shot!
My first carrier sunk was an Illustrious class, too, in a task force with several cruisers and a destroyer screen, doing 22 kts, I almost had an hearth attack when I saw them in the periscope!! :D I threw her everything I had (2 steam and 2 electric eels) and dove _really_ fast! Maraz |
