At last a single merchant contact
10 days without seeing bugger all. Completed my time in my ordered patrol grid and since I was so close to Iceland, I thought id go up there and try and find some single merchants, since back at the dock in lovely Brest, I was told my by fellow kaleuns that you can pick up single merchants leaving Reykjavik.
Well what a suprise! Sound man picks up a contact and 1 hour later we spot this merchant - cool i though gonna be a huge tanker or cargo - look through the binoculars and its a little merchant making for Reykjavik! Oh well better than nothing - after this I may camp there for a while see if i can pick up another merchant heading for that lonely port. BTW I am using NYGM cause I have a very old graphics card. |
You can't have good patrols all the time can you.
I found that very often patrols that start lousy turn out to be the most rewarding in the end. so be patient! Just finished my first patrol in my new IXc, in a career from 1939. I have a habit of getting myself sunk on the first patrol in a new boat, but this time I had a problem free patrol. Attacked a convoy and sunk two large cargoes in CF5684, then a large merchant in the BF sector. Too bad it scores no points in the September Ace competition (operation Spinennennetz). |
Don't despair, its happend to me on a few occasions. A good example is form my last patrol which i've just completed in my type VII/C. Got to my patrol grid with no ships sighted - completed patrol, still no ships.
On the way back got to BF15, I managed to sink a large tanker, and a large merchant for 28040 tons. |
I have camped there before but i never get anything big only small merchs.
