Brisbane

Just got a new sub in a new command. Deployed out of Brisbane to...Marshall Is. :dead: (see my previous thread for that). But what the hell. Seems that my progress is still being noted anyways. So off I go in the USS Balao, to wreak some havoc.

Havoc is reached, fuel is burned, torpoedos are shot, missions are completed. So off I go, to return to Brisbane. Where I am _not_ allowed to tie up. Err...

Now, I went through the archives here, and found a few people back in the spring/summer were having this same problem, but never saw a resolution. One poster suggested looking at the CareerTrack.upc file. I did...and it says I'm assigned to _Fremantle_. Is this where I'm supposed to tie up? I'll be reloading the game and trying it soon, but maybe a vet can help me out first?

This game is more and more like an unfinished dream house: spacious, well-lit, gigabit ethernet wired to every room, self-adjusting environmental controls...but the front door doesn't close unless you kick it, and the water heater might spontaneously explode. And don't flush the toilet between 9:13 and 13:42. And three of the stove burners go from 'simmer' to 'nuclear furnace'. But WOW, that carpeting is _stunning_.

Yea, it seems your base was changed. Try Freemantle. If it won't let you dock go to Pearl.

I guess that is really the only thing i can think you should try.

Yup, eventually that worked. Of course, looking at my save file in notepad seems to have corrupted it somehow (had this problem in other games) so that I had to start all over again from the beginning. Then of course the lovely feature of the game where it'll bring you back to realtime speed everytime a contact appears on radar, but will cheerfully let you sail halfway through an island at 4096 speed without so much as a hiccup meant I had to do it _again_...

I really do like this game, but sometimes I wonder why that is exactly....

Had the exact same problem, started in Brisbane, turns out I was stationed in Fremantle. No radio reports telling me to change bases, but after reading the posts here I loaded up a savegame and checked it out.

Glad I made it home, too. 57,000 tons, and 11,000 renown to play with
