New computer using SH4

I have a P4 3.2 with a nVidia 7800 GS and 2 gig RAM. I need to get a new computer but I'm having a problem knowing what to look for. The games I use SH4 and SH3

I thought I read that if you went with a core duo or quad that since SH4 uses only one core, you default to the speed of one core only. This means that these sims will not run much faster on a newer system. Is this true?

I use full AA and AF on my card and wanted a computer that could run that and be significantly faster.

Can any one help me out?

How does it run with what you currently have?

I have a PD 3.2, 7600GT, 2 gig of ram and the game runs well, all settings maxed out ( except V. Fog ). In the future I will upgrade all three, but that will not be for awhile.

Fairly well. I don't use the graphic features in the left hand column of the game options. I use 8xS AA and 16 AF on my 7800 GS and usuallly am in the 20 -30 range. That's adequate for me, but my computer is dying and I need to get a new one.

Getting something that is significantly faster is what I'm after. However, I don't know if I can or not.

I plan to in the future go core duo with the processor and add to the ram, get a better V. Card, but that costs $$. The process never stops does it :damn::damn:

Nope. It goes on and on.

Well I'm using the exact same setup as you! However this is my old PC I pulled out of the closet since I'm in the middle of a big move right now :88) , Japan to US. But I wouldn't worry so much, the C2D's run the game just fine. It really hurts me to try to use TC on a p4 now. Ouch!

BTW guys, if you see a large cargo with my 'puter on it DON'T SINK IT. I'll find you. :yep:
