The Anson
To all those out there who hate the Anson (you know who you are!) Here something I found on u-boat.net showing how innefectual it was at anti sub operations:

I've suffered a damn site more damage than that on patrol from the attentions of an anson:hmm:

Regardless of attack effectiveness in the shortages of the early
war they were used heavily as a stop gap, off the canadian coast and newfoundland. further though the presence of the aircraft was enough to still show effective suppression as Ive yet to read a report of a sub skipper sticking around intentionally to ignore one from contempt. when approached by aircraft friendly or otherwise caution was always called for I think. I'm not about to check how many light bulbs an Anson will break in my submbie :88)

Yeah, they were quite nice looking planes and popular with their crews but they were lousy for the ASW role, They were soon replaced by the Vastly superior Hudson, and the Whitley with its heavier payload.

I suppose the important thing is not how effective they were in reality but how effective the good people who have designed the game made them to be. I still have fond memories of hurricanes strafing me in Galway Bay. In a storm!
