Painful loading times.

Hello,

Anybody else finding loading a saved game in SH4 extremely frustrating?
It can take close to 5 mins to get going once you die. My rig is more than capable of handling this game. So why so long?

5 minutes ? Pffft thats nothing. Wait till you get a few save games stacked up.

My record is 13 minutes.

Patience is a virtue and this game is not well suited to 'short' play sessions.

It's worth the wait :yep:

Welcome to SUBSIM  by the way.

Those long save loads happen to everyone, but the refit fanatics suffer the worst. It's obvious the game wasn't intended to be played this way. The data set supporting the game certainly is huge. The crew alone is bigger than a lot of other games I play.

Beg to differ. Its the best way to avoid the 'early retierment'.

Histolrically ?? thats another topic.

try to limit your resupplies to 3. it'll help to keep the file on the kinda smallish side

I only "refit" on the way to and from a Patrol, never to go back out...

13th patrol...

4th Sub...

400,000+ tons (@72% realism)

Average of 4 completed objectives per partol (one as high as 7)

Never been retired...

Never had a repeat mission (back to back).

I look at it this way...

We had only been at sea a week or so. Ive finished my assignments and low on fuel and out of torpedoes.

Theres a tender not to far from here. Lets sail there get re-provisioned and radio in our status.

A reply comes soon "Patrol blah blah" so were off to 'blah blah' for another week or so untill our NEW assignment is either completed or failed.

Eventually I take the boys "home" for a little R&R after a couple of months.

I cant see where this would NOT be done in real life.

RadiationRob 09-03-07 01:04 AM

I've never had a loading time more that 45 seconds and i have 88 saves stacked up

-edit-I just went and tested my load times and the average is about 15 seconds

Frederf 09-03-07 01:29 AM

I think it has less to do with number of saves and more to do with how many days since the patrol began.

100 saves, 1st week at sea. Short load.

3 saves, 5 months at sea. Long load.
