GWX Installation problem =(
 

Hi everyone....

i´m having some problems trying to install the grey wolf mod, a message saying that the files are corrupted appears.... what can i do to solve this?

you need to install SHIII, then the patch 1.4, then GWX, then the GWX1.03 update. If you get a message that one file is wrong, just delete it and the install will go without a hitch.

NO NO NOOooooooooo!!!! :damn: :damn: :damn: Doing that (deleting things) WILL cause problems later as there are a vast number of inter-dependant files.

The user needs to re-download the .bin file containing the corrupted bit and then try again.

But to install GWX create a file named GWX on the desktop then load the GWX installer and and all the .bin files into the same folder then put the folder in your SH 3 directory then just run the installer EXE.

Kpt L is right. I wasn't clear on my answer. :damn::damn: The file I was referring to is the one on the 104b patch, not on the GWX install.

Thanks for the tips, i will try that....about the game, unfortunately i can´t find in the stores here in my country =( so, i don´t have much choice and one more question, anyone knows where can i find a german speech for the game? :p

This sim cost me 5 dollars retail, and its worth every penny so far.

Somewhat related, but after overcoming my initial problems I did a clean install of SH3, patched 1.4 and loaded GWX and the 1.03 update. All runs smooth. Now I tried to load SH3 cmdr and it tells me the file is corrupted?

Then try downloading it again from another source:

I KNOW that it's wrong to acquire any software illegaly, and I totally understand and agree with the forums stance of this.

HOWEVER, you need to get out and smell the Roses!
Some of us (me included) are living or working in out-of-the-way countries of Locations where it is NOT POSSIBLE to buy legit games - not for any amount of $$$! Therefroe we don't have any choice - at least to start with.

Let me give you a true example: I currently work and live in Thailand and, on recommendation from another European colleague living here, I bought SH3. Only available as 'illegal' copy; here. I tried everywhere to buy the real version - even tried to buy it as a download via CC at UBI. However they wil not accept any Credit cards from banks in Asian countries !! :-(

Ok - so I ran my illegal (9US$ cost here) SH3 for a while, then tried to patch it to 1.4. NOT POSSIBLE as it's a 'fake' DVD!

So I bought 3 more copies at different places here - all vendors saying it's real and original (yeah, right!!). In the end I was so desperate to run 1.4 and try the 'GWX experience" that i asked a friend to buy me one in Germay while on holiday , on DVD. It took some time but was worth the wait - I got it for Euro 19.99, already patched to v1.4, and now game is MUCH more exciting (and deadly as I have just installed GWX 1.03 - without any difficulty by following the EXCELLENT and clear instructions here from GoldnRivet:

Well, that's it. Just to ask you please to cut a little slack to a very few kaleuns that can't get the 'real deal', purely due to their Location. There ARE places where it's NOT possible just to drive down to the local store and buy these things legally. We don't all live in Europe or the 'States !

Maybe, like me, they will get so involved in the game that they will make strenous effort to eventually buy the legal game and supprt the gaming community.

Sorry for the 'lesson' in real life !!.
