Are the Royal Navy on holiday?
Just completed my second patrol of a new campaign in November '39 with 14 ships sunk for a tad under 55,000 GRT. What I found unusual was that I never encountered any warships or big convoys. My 55,000 GRT is made up of lone merchants and small unescorted French convoys consisting of no more than three ships. My only encounters with British forces was being pestered by RAF Anson's when going round the north of Scotland. A relatively easy second patrol, it can only get harder.

Some patrols are easy. In others, nothing works right. Congratz, that's a nice tonnage.

Yup, don't you know everything stops for tea every afternoon at 4 for the British?
|
Watch out them teabags dont get fouled up against your periscope lens when they throw them overboard or you'll be totally knackered ;)
|
So thats why it really gets harder for us u-boat men later in the war, we have sunk most of the ships that supply tea to the Royal Navy teapots and they spend less time drinking it and more time hunting us down!;)

Ever afternoon at four. Yeah right. Some of my good careers started their downfall at that time. Down to davie's locker.
