[REQ] Hard to read periscope info?

Hi all modders,
I am having a great deal of trouble reading the periscope info as shown in the jpg below.
Is there anyway to highlight the lettering in green or light blue to make it easier to read?

Thanks!

It drives me nuts, too. Same problem with the TBT and binoculars, also.

This is one of the main reasons I use Betterscopes 1.3; because the numbers are much larger and easier to read.

Same problem here.. a lighter font color would be great.

Well considering this is my mod, if any one would care to share the wealth of how to do this... I would be more than happy. You think us modders can work as a team..?

Kapt. Klause,

Check with Capt. Cox....... I'm sure he can help!!

Well, the only thing I would recommend here would be to check out the "Better Scopes Mod"

If you take a look in the .ini changes for Better Scopes it has these changes

It also adds this .dds

If you check out that .dds in photoshop and look at the alpha channel and the size of it etc, i am sure you can figure it out ;)

Basically the trick is NOT to make the lines/numbers etc completely WHITE!, but rather a bit GRAYISH!

I think the best way is simply to play with it and see how it looks in game etc.

Basically the rule is, if the ALPHA is completely WHITE it will show as BLACK in game, if its BLACK in the ALPHA it will be transparent, so if its gray, it will show up lighter etc.

You could also try to delete/play with the RGB's in the "Channels window" (have not done that myself but worth a go maybe)

Aslo check out the "NEW CLOCK.dds" for 1.3 and look at the clock needles, they are RED and BLUE and has this added to the .ini

Have not tried that as well, but I guess it might be a lead.

I hope that helps you a bit further.

I have an old mod with a bearing strip marked degree by degree and half by half, it is from SH III, i add it to SH IV when it released, but... i ttempted to make the numbers in colours but the game non sense.

Plus i attempted to change the colour into the 1024 ini and the game still non sesnse the changes.

To have them intot he colour of the clock needles may be so good, Captain Cox... i will try a new time.

I think so the best way may be to change the hour of the "rig for red", if we can make the rig for red happens early, the strip numbers become light green early and we have the problem solved.

But may be it is hardcoded...

Another solution for this may be to add the UZO bearing strip to the periscope.

Tryied both... i made my numbers grey, and changed the numbers colour...

Nothing happens... :dead: :hmm:

I remember i abandom this many time ago... was not posible for me to make the bearing strip more bright...

I think so we need a command like the rig for red, wich change the bearing numbers colours... or may be to move the rig for red time to an early time. The main problem is when the sun goes down, at sunset.

...i may be a pain in the __s, but gray alpha means more transparent BLACK, it doesn't appear to be in any lighter colour in the game..:damn::damn::damn:...at least i have not found a way to change it...what i got is red bearing @night last time i tried it...

http://www2.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php...17e732155g.jpg

...and because bearing.dds is in Menu-folder you have to turn the game completely off when you try to make changes with the file.....time consuming stuff without progress:damn::damn::damn::nope:

jake

PS. ..so i have now bearing.dds with red markings@nighttime, if anyone is interested....

CaptainCox 08-21-07 11:56 AM

My bad man. Actually how did you get the red? And as to regards of the load/check/quit/tweak/load.... :p
