editing objects, mtls, and obj files

I have several questions in regards to objects used in the game. I've read through the pack3D thread and browsed this forum looking for the information I' seeking and just can't seem to find it.
I use pack3D and load in the Turm7b_1_HD.dat file. I click the export all button. I go to the 3D folder and notice obj and mtl files. What are the mtl files and how are they used?
I open up Wings3D and import one of the OBJ files. I notice that it has no color, no texture, nothing. It's just a 3D model. How do I get it's color and texture and all to show on the 3D model?
I edit the object, resize it, move it, and then export it. I go back into pack3D and import the object that I exported previously. Pack3D says no problems. I fire up SH3 and notice that my changes did not take effect and weird things have happened to other items on the ship. What did I do wrong?

As I already posted in 'Combat flag' thread:
You can scale down [or up] objects in Wings 3D and in normal case this has effect ingame.
But related to the flag object it has no effect ingame.

That's the flag size prob ! ;)

P.s.: just PMed you.

BTW why do you create for every thought you have and every cloud of smoke a new topic? I think that breaks the clearness of this forum.:hmm:

You have to get proper textures and apply them on model in wings3d...also, .mtl files may have something to do with textures, try to import it (3ds max can:shifty: )
