Sh-4 Install Problem # 1,???,???1

Did fresh install of OS and had no problem installing SH-3 ,patch and GWX.

Then installed IL2 1946 and patch still no problem. Both play great.

Then try to install SH4 and get this error message both times I try to install.
This was the error message I got.

Feature transfer error

Feature: Install Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific
Componant: Default Componant
Files: D:\data 2. cab
Error: Data error ( cyclic redundantcy check)

Can anyone help me with this.

p.s. This is US bonus materials version that I've had since March and has played fine.

The dvd has been scratched and the drive can't read it.

Since patch 1.3 removes the need for the dvd to be in the drive, you can install using the dvd from a friend, patch to 1.3 and then play even if your disk is broken.

PS: try and clean the disk, maybe it's just dust.

Thx maerean_m  Will give that a try. I don't see any scratchs tho.

But I have a few friends who have the ebay $10.00 versions and will use one of theirs. They thought I was crazy for getting the $60.00 pre-order version. :D

Could also be the DVD player

Maybe the lens of your DVD player is dirty rather than the disc being scratched. And when you clean it, use a dry, soft cotton cloth and gently clean from the inside to the outside (so, no circular movements).

I had the same problem when trying to install in Vista 32-bit, but managed to install SH4 in safe mode without any errors.

I read somewhere that Nero 7 might be causing the error..

That would be a good bet I think, oh well, it happens to the best of us, I normally put a DVD in on top of another one. @ Firewall, hope you enjoy the game!!

Thats okay more than once I tried to launch the game using the bonus material disk.
