Dive planes animation...

It seems to get stuck constantly, and wont work after that. they just stay in the up position??? Has anyone released a hotfix for this, or is someone currently working on a mod to fix this? Its a pretty annoying little problem that is really bugging me.

buteobuteo 08-04-07 05:39 PM

I don't think there's a fix for it. I never use TC while diving or surfacing as this seems to be the main cause, I always save whilst surfaced as well and very rarely get this problem now.
If it does happen save the game on the suface, exit and reload and they should be OK.

are you referring to the bow planes?

I am currently on the USS Drum and my planes dont retract as needed. its frustrating and irritating.

When I was on the Spearfish, it seemed the bow planes retracted and worked fine. I wonder if its a modeling issue?

Ducimus 08-05-07 03:58 AM

I think the planes being stuck is a TC issue. THey only seem to act up when i crank up TC on the dive.

Steel_Tomb 08-05-07 04:37 AM

Yeah I am a bit happy wth the TC, I'll try to refrain from using it whilst changing depth. Cheers for the help.

I had never noticed this. Are you sure it's a TC issue? I see no reason to doubt your experiences and conclusions of course, but I'm pretty sure I’ve seen my bow planes both up and down even after using time compression during dives. NOOB question: Is it just a visual thing, or does it affect ones ability to dive? I've not noticed anything wrong with my dive times either, but then the only dive reference I do have would be this game so if it has been like this since the beginning, then.... dunno. As long as my sub dives fast enough to escape direct contact with the enemy this captain has no worries, but I guess not noticing non-working (external) parts on your sub is a bad sign of war fatigue so I better up my attention for details before my crew ends as seafood because of a big hole in the hull the captain did not notice, or worse command finds my lack of attention to be a hazard and forces me to become land lubber again. :arrgh!:

I also have tihs problem. However i have no problem with time compression, it only occurs if i save while submerged then re load that save. I encounter no probs if i save on the surface tho.

Misfit138 08-05-07 05:55 AM

This has never happened to me due to TC. I use to dive TC set to anything between 32-1024 and it has never caused any problems

Loading a save when I'm submerged is the only time I've encountered this problem

switch.dota 08-05-07 02:16 PM

I always get this and I never submerege at less than 256x TC.

CaptainCox 08-05-07 02:20 PM

I had it once after 1.3...but I thought they fixed this in 1.3...not 100% but.
Well obviously not hey :p

Exactly the same for me

Tobus 08-06-07 01:33 AM

Why bother? The planes don't seem to work anyway, they are more eyecandy than an integral part of diving mechanics in SH4.
See here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=118833

Dive and surface at normal TC then use compression when either of those are done. Works for me.

Peto 08-06-07 11:20 AM

I've also seen this problem (a number of times) and I think I now know what causes it. If I save the game while submerged my dive planes don't rig out as they shopuld for the next boot--sometimes for the rest of the patrol. I've been saving games now only when surfaced and haven't had the glitch since I started doing that.

Maybe someone else can confirm this.

Cheers!

Peto

Woops! I just noticed that I'm confirming this from an earlier post. I hate it when I do that but at least my suspicions are confirmed!

bubbaj0nes 08-06-07 12:36 PM

actually everytime your game loads it "assumes" your surfaced and places the planes in the up position.

If you save underwater, the planes' position gets reversed, but dont move anymore as the model is in conflict.

Usually saving on the serface and reloading fixes it.

it isnt a TC issue, its a saving underwater issue.
