Prolly a really dumb installation question--and not from a noob either. ; )

I have always wondered--when I install a mod that starts with a Data folder, can I just place that folder into the existing game Data folder, or should I open it to the last page and then install the item into the same page of the existing Data folder? I hope this is clear. I have always been afraid of just placing the mod Data folder directly into the game Data folder for fear it would wipe out everything but itself, so I have always opened them to their respective last pages and installed each item seperately.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure what your saying, but if I get a mod in which the main folder is called Data and not the actual name of the mod, then I'll go ahead and create a name myself and put the Data folder in it, then place the newly named mod folder in the game mod folder.

This is why we have JSGME!

Actually, if I understand your question correctly, if you placed a Data folder in the SH4 directory it would overwrite the existing one and cause problems.

In fact if you install it as is ( drag into JSGME with the data folder as the lead ), nothing will happen. I have had this happen by mistake. The filepath is not correct, it needs a main folder for the applicable data to go in.

By the way banjo, there are no dumb questions here.

when you put this file in it will only replace the files that it contains and then only the files that are inside of that file.

in other words it will only effect the files contents not the file as a whole. unless you are replacing the entire file as a whole, it will select and replace just the ones you install

Thanks all...and Webster, you answered my question. Thanks again
