Periscope control?

I've checked the FAQ and can't track down an answer to this.

Is the persiscope control 'full up' or 'full down' or can it be controlled incrementally (as in sh3)?

... also ... if the scope can be moved incrementally does anyone know if this makes a difference to chance of detection?

note ... I've been dropping the boat a few feet to compensate for the 'high out of the water scope' thing - but I may just be wasting my time.

thanks for any help here...

You can use "pg up" and "pg down" keys to raise and lower the scope incrementally.

Fast service with a smile!

As for the second question, I always use the up/down controls to save time and reduce periscope exposure. Instead of waiting for the scope to go all the way down and all the way back up again, lower it just below the surface, then you only have to raise it a bit for another look. Works for me, anyway. :)

And yes, running around with a couple feet of scope sticking out of the water will get you spotted. I just got bombed yesterday at periscope depth because of that!

Delete and Insert for the observation periscope (Ctrl+ for "all the way" one touches)

Wow, I hadn't seen a bombing yet at PD. Cool.

I thought it was a nice touch. Especially since they missed me! :D

I've been bombed at PD when trying to chase a crippled ship during daylight. I was afraid to come up because I had been on the surface chasing them when aircraft showed up which is why I dove in the first place. I'd assume the pilots can spot the wake from a raised scope the same as ships can. Bombing might even be easier since we sure can't maneuver very quickly when submerged.

Probably like hunting rabbits with bad legs.

A small warning to all. At PD on a clear day and no wind you stand out like a hooker at a church social.

Take a look in external cam from planes perspective. Iv'e been bombed with scope down after hitting a merchant with torp and plane comeing in at me.
