Is this normal?

Played the single player missions many times and a few times my sub get destroyed without any reason at all, all damage from previous attacks totaly repaired and at only 180 feet depth the game is over, flooding all over the place, sub destroyed?? Also there are way to much airplanes in some zones, and 1 time I was at 220 feet silent rig, speed 0 and the destroyer killed me in no time? He didn't even knew I was waiting there for the night to come, no pings, nothing, just a few depth charges and dead? All this happens after the 1,3 patch, is this normal? Did anybody else have the same experiences? Greetz from a hopeless captain:)

while running silent, was your damage control party still working? that's how the DD found you. depending on where and how deep, your sudden destruction coulda been a mine

No , all repairs done, dismissed the repair crew, silent rig was on:)

This is a known issue...

The "sudden death" syndrome. It is due to the damage model and a certain situation where a "domino effect" continues to add and actually multiply damage when at depths.

There are a few mods that address it. Die slowly is one such mod.

Of course it is also possible that you had bulkheads damaged to the extent that they could not take the pressures at depth, or you may have run into a mine, or you may have run into the bottom.

The damage control screen will occasionaly tell you your bulkheads are at 100% when there not.

Next time you have taken a severe beating think twice about taking her deep.

Lastly... Save early save often.

Like i said, all damage was repaired, no bulkheads damaged for sure, otherwise I didn't go that deep:) All compartments were 100% ok and then suddenly dead, flooding all over the place, couldn't not be mine because the sub was not moving:) Guess it is a bug but I will check the mod you mentioned, thanks for reply:)

Tater deserves all the credit for uncovering the domino effect.

All that was repaired was INSIDE the sub. Outside is the Hull which still may
be damaged, thus reducing how deep you can safely go before collapse.
Bug or Reality? I would say reality cause it could happen....

yes Jim, I guess you are right, there were a few big holes in the hull from previous attacks, it's the only explenation there is, and ones the flooding started the crew did all they could to save the sub, we even started to surface but still destroyed a few moments later:(

No, that's not me!

Redwine is the domino effect guy.

I only found the taihosan CTD.
