Trigger Maru 1.4 sound question

I am completely impressed with TM 1.4 except for the diesel engine sound. Is there an engine sound mod that is compatable with TM 1.4 that I can add? thanks.

The soundfiles of SHIV are simple wav-files, so you can combine TM with any soundmod... just overwrite the files with JSGME... or delete the files you don't want from the TM-folders before activating the mod.

MarkoRamius updloaded the old diesal sounds i was using before:

I guess im sticking them back in next update. Seems nobody likes the other ones. lol.

I think the old one makes it sound like the damn thing's in need of an overhaul!
.....all clankin' and clunkin' along!

The new engine sound you use in 1.4 ..I understand... is from a real fleetboat engine...

Whats more authentic than that?

Oh!..forgot!...i like the "new" diesel sound

Thats why i put them in there, although the particuar ones i used were edited by another modder and reduced in volume, so i might toss the unedted louder ones in.

Perhaps in future releases you could offer a choice for the diesel sound..

One thats... "an authentic diesel sound"...

or... "one that sounds like a diesel on it's last leg...and might not get ya back to Pearl!"

Choice...is always a good thing!

HA HA! Would need to be mission sensative and kick-in for that added drama, limping back home ala Operation Petticoat's "Sea Tiger" ;)

"...a backfire of smoke emerging from the number 1 engine muffler again. "Strange, still that number 1 engine," Sherman remarks. "I guess they were never able to fix that."

Do all the boats use the same engine sound file, or could the S-Boats use the 'clankin' and clunkin' along' file. I really liked the clunky engine sounds for my S-Boat. It added alot of charm to my old antique, but wouldn't sound quite right for a Gato Fleet Boat.

The Sounds in the game are almost as important as the the visuals for immersion.

Unfortunatly all boats use the same sound, I agree the clunking ones sound good on an S boat.

Perhaps a little mod just for the S-Boats that could be unactivated when I get something newer??? Just a thought.

Thats the magic of JSGME. I use different Command .cfg files and sounds for different boats. Sounds are so important for atmosphere.

I totally agree about the ambient sounds being important for atmosphere. I found the sound (. . . data\sound\submarine_diesel_exterior(underwater).w av), but I don't see anything in the Command.cfg file that calls the sound.

Sounds like you have the problem solved. Perhaps you'd be kind enough to post your solution (mod) to the community???

You are correct, sounds are not referenced in the Commands.cfg.The reason for the different command.cfg files is just so I can use my custom interior cams mod in different boats. There are several different interiors & scope arrangements that need different "Goback to view xx" commands. I just make a JSGME file for a particular boat then put the sounds/graphics/commands what have you into that file. When I am going into my campaign I will load that boats file before I start SHIV.
