where is Bungo Pete?

Hi, I'm using the TM mod which is excellent. I've heard that Bongo Pete is in the game but I don't know where the Bongo Straits are. Can anyone let me know?

Thanks:up:

I believe that Bungo Pete can appear anywhere.

I do assume that you ment Bungo. Bongo Pete implies something entirely different. Far out, man.

As I understand Bungo Pete is only available in the Trigger Maru mod and patrols off the Bungo Sudio entrance to the Sea of Japan. Ducimus actually created him using a Destroyer Escort, which he converted, and then placed only 1 instance of it in the straights.

Be on the lookout for an Akikaze class destroyer.

(presses play on Run Silent Run Deep dvd)

----
Bungo Pete, by ducimus

Inspired by the nemises from the book and movie, "run silent, run deep".

Spawns every 4 days in the bungo Suido area, and takes bout 2.5 to 3 days to finish his patrol route. This destroyer is equiped with, 2 DC racks, 2 K guns, highly sensitive hydrophones and sonar, and is elite in crew rating. Unless your crazy good, or just plain crazy, it would be best to avoid him. Remember, "the Akikaze never misses!"

Historical Note, the Real Akikaze is a name of a singlur ship from the a Minekaze class of destoryers:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minekaze_class_destroyer
http://www.combinedfleet.com/akikaz_t.htm
http://pwencycl.kgbudge.com/M/i/Minekaze_class.htm

Subsequenly, i used the Minekaze data files when creating the "akikaze destroyer"

NOTE:
On a spot of luck, Japan has no destroyer escorts in the stock sea rosters. By creating this unit as a destroyer escort, ive removed the possiblity of it being accidently spawned elsewhere in the campaign game since there are no "Generic destroyer escort" entries in the MIS files that im aware of. WIth this mod, Japan has only one destroyer escort.

File structure:
###############

/DATA/SEA/NDE_AKIKAZE/*.*
--------------------------
- Ship support files, inheirts model from Minekaze.

/DATA/ROSTER/NAMES.CFG
----------------------
- Added "Akikiaze Destroyer" so the ship is properly named in game

/DATA/ROSTER/JAPAN/SEA/DEAKIKAZE.CFG
---------------------------
-cfg file assigning the unit to japans inventory

/DATA/CAMPAIGNS/CAMPAIGN/JAP_HARBOR_TRAFFIC.MIS
----------------------------
-Places Bungo pete in the BUngo Suido area

I would strongly ADVISE all players to AVOID this "Bungo Pete". He has the
latest everything that Ducimus could put into his makeup. If he detects you in
deep water, you can avoid him for a time but he will ALWAYS find you again.
You will never be able to just slip away. If the water is shallow, bend over and
(you know the drill). I only killed him once by luring him into a minefield....

I woudlnt tangle with ole bungo unless your crazy good or just plain crazy. I Deliberatly made him ........ hard. Lets put it this way, *I* consider him very hard.

"Remember Bledsoe, the Akikaze never misses! Never!"

edit: BTW, the akikaze does NOT have radar. Night, and fog (or both at once) are your friends.

Hey Ducimus, does Bungo do continuous circles (like a shark) in the mouth of the straight as he searches/waits for you to escape?

I'm in Hiroshima Bay near Hatsukaichi, at the moment and a DD is blocking my escape ;)

FAdmiral 07-29-07 04:36 PM

Click on the DD icon, if the sonar pattern (first cone around ship forward)
is 5 or 6 times larger than all the other DDs, then YES, that is ole "BUNGO"
himself.....

Ducimus 07-29-07 04:38 PM

No, you acutally have a chance to enter the area if you observe him and are patient enough to wait for him to leave.

He starts at around 34', 131', and then patrols counter clockwise from there. He goes through the western portion of the bay, then into the straight. He then turns at around 33', 132.5', and then goes back up through the straight and then patrols the eastern part of the bay and then returns back to 34', 131', where he knocks off for a couple of days.

Ducimus 07-29-07 04:45 PM

Just wanted to add, the only boat that might be able to slip away from him, would be a balao...... a balao near crush depth, maybe........ :smug:

sqk7744 07-29-07 05:13 PM

RATS! (now was I better off not knowing that ;))

GREAT FUN!

Thanks

djeeper 07-29-07 05:22 PM
