All ships including my boat sunk w/ one torpedo!
 

Here's one for ya: I was amidst a large convoy with my IXB when I got detected by a Flower Corvette. She started pinging me. She passed right over me on her first run but I survived. She turned to starboard, me to port and I let go with my stern torpedoes. One of them found its mark. But then every ship in the convoy started to explode at once and my IXB was destroyed, all hands lost. Was that a nuclear warhead on that torpedo? :huh:

did you midify in anyway any files? I once edited a value in the zones.cfg file and some others in the torpedo.zon with the same result, but unless you did the same, I don't know what happened there.
BTW, how far were you from the destroyer when the topredo hit it?

I have had occasion to sink myself with torpedos on three occasions
twice it was enhanced wide area blast effect, once it was carelesness with
loose Homer.

If you did modify your torps you were too close to the detonation
if you didnt modify your torps I postulate that maybe you broached
starting a spontaneous fire fight within the convoy however how
your boat sank requires a seperate explanation under this theory.

Well, I did have that "Super Torpedo" mod activated (even though it was not effective since it applies to Type III torps and they are not available to me yet - I have yet to have occasion to see one in action. I have been playing 18 missions in this career without seeing this happen).
I also had the damage mod activated, the one where it simulates "holes" via darkened areas on the skin. Just before I went down I noticed a darkened area on the tip of my bow even though I was submerged.
I too have sunk myself in other careers like Mush has: a homer I forgot about or a FAT doing a ladder track that I lost track of. But this was a Type II regular torp.
I did not alter any files.
I was between 280 and 300 meters when the stern torp hit the corvette which I have done before with no adverse effects. (I have had occasion in other careers to be in a "dogfight" with a destroyer and when I hit it with a torp, the games has crashed and I was returned to my desktop with no opportunity for a save - this is with destroyers only)
This was so bizarre. There must have been about 20 or so ships in that convoy that all started to explode at once.
I saved just before that engagement. So, I'll have to see what happens in a "do-over". Too bad I didn't have the presence of mind to take a few pictures of that event! It was over before I knew it.
