Transfer

I started off a career sailing from Constanza in a type IID. I have just transferred to the 10th flotilla at Penang but I am still sailing a IID instead of the uboats operated by 10th flotilla, can anyone offer any suggestions? also what is the best and fastest way to gain renown so I may be able to upgrade my uboat as I seem to be sinking ships(Not Neutral or Hospital) but my renown does not go up very much.Thanks.

1.- Complete the Academy training... it will give you extra 1000 of renown.
2.- Complete your 24 hours patrol on the designated grid.
3.- When done, if you still have torps, go somewhere else and sink more ships. The bigger the better.
4.- When you are returning to your base, sail all the way home, don't do ESC and "Return to Base", because there you are letting renown go away. ;)

To gain a new boat you have to buy one in your base with your renown, you don't get a new one automatically! I recommend a IXC boat for East Asian operations, that needs 7,500 points of renown, plus some for the extras.

Or you could go into your career_0.cfg and alter renown to whatever you like, since its hardly realistic to ask you to pay for your own boat is it,personaly I don't think that an arcade element such as renown has any part belonging in a sim.My personal opinion of course;)dump the renown to the bottom of your chosen sea and get what you need to fight the enemy:yep:lord knows its hard enough as it is without having to save for an upgrade:up:

Another way is to edit the basic.cfg file.
I have 5 point for Allies and 0 for neutrals, but of course I only sink neutrals when they are in a convoy.
Plus, if you edit your Flotilla.cfg file, you can also have any ammount of renown you want at the beginning of a career. I have mine set to 1000.
I hope this contributes a little. ;)

Or, alternatively, reduce/remove the renown required for the u-boat you want.

For the Far East, you want an IXD2. You need the extra range. ;)
