Americans still neutral?
Playing GWX. 1941.
On 9th December I received a radio message that restrictions agains American shipping were lifted. More targets! :D On the 10th I came across an American merchant. Am preparing to attack but I notice that the American cities are still green (neutral) and war doesn't officially begin till the 11th. Theoretically I should be able to attack here. But (in game terms) will I be accused of sinking a neutral?? |
Sink it. :arrgh!:
|
Go for glory and sink that ship:up:

German declaration of war to the USA was on 11th December 1941.
US declaration of war to Germany,as an reaction to the german declaration on Dec 12th 1941. So you would sink an neutral before Dec 11th 1941. |

and for the americans a neutral |
Further factor to consider.
In SH3, ships that spawn and get underway before their home-country alignment changes... may retain their original alignment until they reach their destination and disappear. I cannot recall if this is corrected by saving/exitting the game and restarting. |
i started a patrol on Dec 8th and US was green. December 11th came and all US ports were red.

Vessels are neutral until ports/cities etc. turn red. Sink a neutral on the eve of such a significant change and your considered a hostile/renegade for the next 24 hours in any event :arrgh!:
|
Ah well... may as well get hung for a sheep as a lamb.
|
In the end I put a torpedo into him. Gotta do what you gotta do. :arrgh!:
You guys were right though. Looks like it goes down officially as a neutral. |
Nuremburg awaits
|
No guts no glory. Fill yer boots matey and sink the bugger!:arrgh!::arrgh!:
