Major engagements

Can anyone tell me how many major engagements are scripted into the career game?
I got a message about an op around the solomon island's (Mid to late july 1942). As I was in the neighborhood I headed that way. Unfortunately there was further traffic to tell me where around the islands, just a follow up to say that the op was underway and the area was a war zone!
So I guess I have three questions
1) how many major engagements are in the career game?
2) How do we find out exactly where? (it is a pretty big ocean and saying "around" this or that island isnt too specific
3) Are there any mods for getting a better location i.e Long and lat included in messages or a graphic similar to the mission stars, with a unique symbol to represent a battle.

Many thanks & happy hunting. :D

7 or 8 I think (from memory).

They are not terribly historical---not the specifics, the AI is very limited, I'd just like to see the right ships in the right battles. They go to the trouble to rough out a battle, then use the wrong ships even when they actually have the right ones in the game, lol.

thanks

Thank you tater. Do you know how i can find out exactly when and where they occur. I now he game generates flash traffic to advise of the impending battle but getting a reasonable fix on the location whould help a lot.
sorry for the dismal spelling above, typing in the darkness as my eyes adjust to night vision for nightline patrol...

Good idea for a mod.
