Yay! My first fleet carrier!
The drinks are on me tonight lads! I've had a few escort carriers before, even one or two BB's...but never a Illustrious class fleet carrier! Was patroling around Narvik, sighted a HMS Nelson, sent four fish at her but must have miscalculated the speed/AOB as all missed. However the first fish hit home on a DD escort which sent the whole task force into a panic. Was heading south away from the DD's hunting me..."sound contact, warship, closing!". Up scope....bah...only a DD. Wait a sec...its a whole task force, and the carrier was completely open on her starbord side no escorts. Four fish hit her engine room...I dive to 100m and sneek away they never even got close to me.
Back down towards Scapa Flow hoping to catch something...sank a Large Cargo, surfaced..."depth charges in the water" ???? ALLLLLAAAARRRMM!!! Bloody string bags are bombing me! Great first patrol methinks! A few pics below. HMS Indefatigable after taking four fish to her engine room, slowly slipping under the waves. http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...623.15_407.jpg Low on fish so using the aft tubes, Fuer funf! LOS! http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...655.47_579.jpg Result, a broken back for the merchant :arrgh!: http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r..._1646.54_1.jpg Really miffed about missing HMS Nelson, would have put me up to roughly 70k tonnes! But hey there are many more fish in the sea to send to ol' Davey's locker! |
Congrats, ST!!!!
Jobe well done. I will gladly have more than a couple of Old Parr's with you. CapZap |
Great shot! Shame as I have yet to sink one yet:down:
|
Congrats! :arrgh!:
It's way cool when that kind of jazz happens. You want to spend time on external view but sooner then later you know it's time to scoot. Good score! |
Congratz, ST:up:
I have 18 patrols and I'm yet to SEE a carrier  |
Same here :D
|
Congrats, herr kaluen!
:()1: |
Can you tell us your location where you sank the carrier?
Im tyring to figure out where warships cruise. This may be a lost cause, because they may patrol where ever they want. |
Well it was in 1940 during the Norway campaign was travelling south away from Narvik. Caught a revenge class also heading back south from Narvik after the action up there. Lots of warships travelling all over the place, higher DD activity and patrols up near the north of Scotland East of Scapa Flow.
