They're both good movies i liked Letters from Iwo Jima better. Ones the allies story and the other is the Japanese story. Best to get both.

They are both very different, but I found them both brilliant.

Letters form Iwo Jima as incrdible, and I'm very picky about my war movies. It was poignant and intense and violent and disturbing and moving and all without being a cliche. Clint really has arrived as a brilliant director.

Havent seen the Flags, but saw the Letters, which is from the Japanese POV. Very good movie, I must say.

Exactly my reaction. Letters From Iwo Jima is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time.

At least you'll have 'em, and to do with what you want. Worst case is that you could let 'em go for a pack of cigarettes each.

Whether or not they're accurate portrayals I'm mnot going to address.

I will tell you this: I watched Cynthia McFadden interview the director.

I won't shut up until Gene Simmons is nominated for 007, or Jack Nicholson gets an Oscar.

Those are my terms.

It seemed to me like Flags of Our Fathers was very scattered. I think they could've done much better. It was all over the place.

However, Iwo didn't jump around at all. Great movie.

I havn't seen letters yet but I really want to.

Flags was good but not great. Its worth seeing.

I'm sure that everyone here yelled at the screen when they saw the marine lighting up a smoke on the deck of the transport after dark. ;)

Slightly OT but it is perhaps not as bad as when the USA entered the war and their blacked out merchant vessels/tankers were silhouetted by the entire east coast of the USA which was lit up like a Christmas tree. Happy times again for the U-boat crews such as U-123 and co.
