[REL] VS3 Airport NAV'S and last VS for a while

Okay what this does is gives you the exact locations of all
Airbases
and shows you who controls them and when. As time
in the game passes you will see them change between British,
Green,
American, Blue, and JAP, Red, control and there is
a Symbol of a Plane in the Corisponding color as you zoom in
so you can use your map tools to make a circle to show the
coverage area of each base to know when your in a safe zone
or not.

NEW Added Feature : As you zoom in you will see the
Symbol for the exact location of that base. I also now have
the Plane symbol disapear as you zoom in and then it changes
to an actual Airbase 2D image with a coresponding flag for that
country.

This was a joint effert between Captain Cox and myself. I am
good at detail work but the CPT is the best when it comes to'
the DDS work for pictures. Thanks Captain Cox. And some new
work with a request from Redwine and Captain Cox
.

Now I have added and subtracted a couple of Airbases on all
sides and put in British ones that were never in the game to start with.

First there were a couple of Jap Airbases set up in
the game that were not on our big maps that came with the game.
Second in our briefings we get in base they were showing airbases
for the Solomons that never existed in the game so I put them into
play to matched the times as best as possable to things that actualy
happen in the game it's self.

And I added an Airbase for Iwo-Jima to honor the men that died
there and it will change to US when we take that Island.

I also set up Wake Island to do the change over from US to start to
Japan then back to US again when it is supose to happen.
I also added an Airbase for Pearl because there wasn't one in the game.

I also changed the US Airbases in Austrailia and Port Morsby to
British one's but we did have a joint effert with the Brit's in
Port Morsby so I also have a US Airbase there as well.

Now at least with Manila and Java you know it is no longer safe
to go there as soon as you see the RED JAP airbases on the maps.

This MOD is JSGME ready but you must be in port with the game
turned off to install it.

Enjoy guys and I hope this is usfull to who ever downloads it.

You both should be commended. Great addition to the game.

Next, how about range circles around the airbases!

Thank you

Well Leo did all the work and thinking on this! I only helped out a tiny little bit.

leovampire 07-06-07 02:24 AM

the Captain did what I havn't mastered yet

the DDS files. I tryed today to change the colors to match the new Lettering but just couldn't get the see through layer to work so I gave up LOL! But sometimes it takes 2 or 3 to make a project work. All I know is after 10 hours of working on this today alone I am done with it for a long while!

Have too many other projects I want to finish for the game. And to play some as well.

nice job

I've tried the second version in a patrol, worked pretty cool as I kept my boat out of the converage of the patrols

Anyway, thanks for such a great invention. Keep it up!

Started a new career here    GREAT STUFF MAN! and THANKS! this mod is for sure what its meant to be

leovampire 07-06-07 03:03 PM

Thanks for the nice votes on the work guys

It is apreaciated big time.

The reason why I highlite stuff in colors is to draw peoples attention to certain
details they might miss just reading a single color thread.

Second I have to admit that after 2 strokes I have a hard time fallowing stuff I am reading if I am tired. So it keeps me more focused if it changes in appearence from time to time so I don't get lost in my place. I have to make tons of notes to fall back on because my memory recall can be a real issue.

Amazing!

Amazing! This is exactly the type of information that a sub captain wouldn't leave port without. No more planes appearing from who knows where, bound for nowhere. Now we can think and strategize on a whole new level, bringing a level of immersion that has been impossible up to now. Subsim should give monthly awards to outstanding contributions to the modding scene and this mod deserves the first one! I can't wait to get back to port to try it out. Thanks leovampire and CaptainCox!

Edit: I've used it and it revolutionizes the game entirely. No more wondering where that plane came from! I do have two questions: It would be great to know what all the abbreviations mean. Is that a question? No, but THAT was.

Secondly, what was the effective range of operations for Japanese aircraft? I'd love to draw a circle of operations around each airbase so I can know in general where to fear and where to rampage. Or perhaps you could add the circles in a later release.

Simply a FANTASTIC mod....NEVER leave home without it!
