Applying SH4 mods while on patrol

I just applied a hi res gato skin while in the middle of a patrol , so i take it that now mods can be installed while on patrol and not only while in base like SH3 . The devs said that this is how it will be .

Some can, but most won't. I've had several CTD's when trying to do this at sea in the past. Nowadays, every mod gets applied in port.

I think I remember....

Skins are .tga files so they can be intalled during patrol in either Sh3 or Sh4 without conflict. I wouldn't try it with any mods other than skins, however....

Anything that touches the campaign would be a CTD if applied at sea. So mission files, or mods to ships that would change their names, dates or types.

Not sure about new ships, they'd probably be OK (they'd get put in game at render distance if a group pulled them from a GENERIC entry.

Changes to your sub are a bad idea, though something like the deckgun destabilization might well work since it doesn't likely change anything in the save file.
