U-3504 Launched Yesterday! (Revell AG 1/144th Scale Type XXI)
With great fanfare, U-3504 slid down the ways at the Bortwerks yard just outside Chicago, adding yet another U-Boat to Illinois' collection. The excellent Revell AG 1/144th scale Type XXI went together easily and plus painting and decals was launched just 3 days after the keel was laid. :arrgh!: I had a fun time with this one, 1/144th scale is excellent for subs if you aren't crazy or well funded enough to tackle the 1/72nd scale VIIC and Gato that Revell AG offers.
Here are some pictures of the brand new submarine: http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...7/IMG_0681.jpg The conning tower and stand. http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...7/IMG_0676.jpg A view from the bow with open torpedo tubes. http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...7/IMG_0678.jpg The stern, captured in all of its plastic glory. http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...7/IMG_0675.jpg More of the torpedo tubes. http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...7/IMG_0683.jpg A view of the bow planes. http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...7/IMG_0673.jpg The conning tower and fore deck. http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...7/IMG_0677.jpg The whole thing all together! Next up in line from Bortwerks Chicago is a Tamiya 1/48th scale Tiger I with die cast metal body! After that comes another from Revell AG, the 1/144th scale VIID. I can't wait! |
Nice Bort, I did some of this a long time ago, would love to get back into it sometime.
Thanks for sharing:up: RDP |
Nice, I'm currently (amongst other things) working on the AFV Club 1/350th scale Type XXI kit, in between doing bits of my Akula!
