What do I do with the life boats?

Just a quick question. When you sink a boat, what is the proper procedure for dealing with the life boats? Should I sink them or leave them alone or is there a way to take them hostage? thanks.

Typically just leave them. Most of the time there empty anyhow.

You cant pick up any survivors (not modeled).

You can shoot them up if it gives you some kind of sadistic pleasure but you wont get any renown for it and just burn up ammo. I'm not sure but you may even take a renown loss for it.

I just wish they wouldent pop up on sonar / radar, and have my watch quit calling them out as 'ship spotted'.

No way to capture prisoners. You don't have the room for them anyway.

I avoid them.

Open fire with the aa gun if you don't have other plans for that ammo.

Im not so sure you wont take a renown loss for that.

Or your sub may become 'haunted' like some stupid movie I saw last night.

I'm pretty sure the renown impact is hardly noticable -- even if such a penalty exists. Anyway we're talking about renown aquired during the war. At that point many saw the Japs as enemies that would kill themselves if they could take an american down with them. Not sure why killing them would be considered detrimental.

no renown penalty... so sink them if it makes you happy.

Well there is... er was... this thing called compassion. Besides traditionally it was considered 'bad luck' to harm victums of a sunk ship regardless of what side they were on.

Churn them up in the screws:nope:

dean_acheson 06-28-07 03:16 PM

Sometimes I AA them for target practice.

I usually only ram Junks. ;)

Since Taking command of the Wahoo, I feel justified in my actions.

Gun one of 'em, the blood will attract sharks. ;)

switch.dota 06-28-07 04:31 PM

You try chasing all 10-12 liferafts and the likes after sinking a huge liner.

kakemann 06-28-07 04:47 PM

Enjoy the view of them!

wetwarev7 06-29-07 02:45 PM

Watch them and take bets as to which one will go nuts and kill his shipmates first to conserve what little fresh water they have with them. :rotfl:
