New Player Questions

Hi Im not really a fan of naval sims although i have to say SH3 with the grey wolves mod really sucked me in, i cant get enough now!

However I have just installed SH4 with no mods...

First of all I cant get Anti Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering working even if i force it through the drivers (x1950pro and cat 7.5)..whats up with that?? For the last 2 or 3 years i have played every game with a minimum of 4xaa 8xaf, but usually 6xaa and 16af, without it it looks worse than pacman in my opinion..also when i set it to 1440x900 widescreen res it still looks as if its not in native resolution apart from the hud..

Secondly playing SH4 feels like im going backwards after playing the grey wolves mod for sh3, are there any similar mods for sh4 worth getting to improve gameplay?? like 1 big pack?? i dont think i could be bothered going through hundereds of different mini mods..

these are my main 2 problems with the game, if i cant get aa and af to work id rather just play sh3,besides i always liked the german "dasboot" feel of the game anyway, its a shame really, i have been waiting for sh4 for so long..

other than that this game looks very promising, i cant wait to see what the community has in store!

thanks!

Real Fleet Boat and Trigger Maru are two larger mod-packs, have a look at the read-me in each to see what they do.

There are also some great radio and sound mods, they really add to the experience.

Be bothered looking at all the mods :yep: Modders have done some great work with SH4, they really add to the experience and are worth the time installing and trying out.

Be patient with the game, it is going to be a great one.

thanks for the suggestions, and yes i agree this game will be great with time, im really looking foward to playing online!

but the stock version seems really rough, just like sh3 was, the grey wolves mod made that game for me

installing mods now!

Lets hope patch 1.3 does the trick, modders will do the rest. There eventually will be a GWX type mod for SH4 :yep:

Good Hunting:up:

Just to clarify, the GWX SH3 crew have no plans for SH4, but I do see modders in SH4 and at subsim taking this game in that direction. Let's hope :yep:

Actually the stock is not as bad as everyone beats it up to be. Welll once patched to 1.2 that is.

You are right there, in the beginning I actually played without many mods installed and enjoyed that experience :yep:

i came to that conclusion on my own, not what everyone else "beats it up to be"

sh3 with the grey wolves mod was great, and felt like a polished game, stock sh4 does not IMO

sh4 will be just as good with time, but unfourtunatly the devs have left it up to modders to finish thier work again.

SH3 plus GWX with much better graphics is all i wanted! SH4 comes close

no you misunderstood what i said, sh4 has far better gfx than sh3+GWX
SH4 is agreat game in its own right, it just doesnt appeal to me like SH3+GWX does..yet

sh4 will be great, i have faith!

Give it time. It's hard to expect a newly-released game to meet the same standard as GWX.
