Drive the Virtual USS Texas

Found this off the "How stuff works" website.

If above link does not work, try this:

http://www.jhuapl.edu/websub/

Follow the instructions for first time users:

1. Prepare to download Viscape (change to .exe before download) (Very short download for DSL users; 56k users be aware)
2. Create folder under C:/Program files named "Superscape"
3. Download Viscape to C:/Program files/Superscape
4. Run/Install Viscape to the default directory that shows up
5. Play!

It's pretty tough at first, but once you get the hang of it, is pretty neat.

Hope that will suffice.

Just so you know, it plays through the internet, but uses the module you have on your computer.

It's pretty neat. Try it.

Everything you see is controllable.

Lemme guess, no torpedoes and no targets?:)

ASWnut101 06-21-07 10:25 PM

I thought that too when I first saw/played it.

Oh well, thought some of you would find it interesting.

:dead:

It's interesting. Kind of reminds me of the game SSN.

:hmm:

Does this mean I don't make it into the Navy?

John Hopkins seems to have some interesting trainer programs. Check these out. Wish I could try them, but they don't seem publicly available.

Whenever I heard John Hopkins University I never once thought they were into military systems. I always just thought of it as medical. Live and learn.
On an off trivia note, I wonder if those simulation are in Pascal reason being they aren't in high-end graphics and it's something Pascal is capable of?
