Here I am sink me Mod

 I understand that it's tough out there at night, what with all those waves and darkened ships sliding through the sea. Submarine skippers really had little use for a permanently mounted searchlight but they did carry a handheld light to te conning tower at times for signalling purposes. It was able to be fitted with red, blue, and green glass filters for versatility and recognition signals.

A ship painted black to be stealthy and difficult to detect wasn't about to use a searchlight any more than it would use active sonar. Both would hasten the demise of the submarine and serve only as a director for enemy gunfire...

I think it would be a great idea. fair enough other
ships will know youre there but they might allready
know. maybe you could blind their guns with a search
light and it would be great for the lifeguard missions at night.
I was looking through some of the sh4 files and
noticed part of a file to do with the conning
tower and equipment upgrades there was a section about a search light.
it looked like it was going to be part of the upgrade options but wasnt implemented. anyway im not sure ,
ill have to go back and look into
it further but i think it could be a definate possability and may
have even originally been intended to be part of the game
but didnt get finished. likke a few other things.

Doesnt the old s-class have a non-working searchlight on its periscope standards?

But yeah I agree, would be a great help for nighttime lifeboat missions in winter when its dark and cloudy. Can barely see ur own forward deck gun, let alone a little guy floating out there.

Only if you turn them on, though. The same could be said for radar and the radio. The engines make noise while running, too. It's just a matter of when you turn them on.

I for one would like to have the option. Not that I would use it all the time.
