A question about renown
 

On a recent patrol at the normal difficultly setting I bagged two fleet carriers and a heavy cruiser. I was skippering a S-18, so I pretty much blew my load torpedo wise. I also caught two medium size freighters on the surface on the way back. Of my mission assignments, I completed the patrol off Celebes, but not engage enemy shipping. On return I was offered a salmon class sub, which I excepted, but I found that I only received 1500 in renown. I have received much higher renown on missions, some not completed bagging much less attractive prizes.

Does a new sub subtract from renown earned?

Two carriers and a cruiser in a sugar boat :hmm: .

The Hiryu took 4 fish, the Shokaku took 3, and the mogami took 1 to put to the bottom. I put one in another mogami but she survived. The position I found if I had a Balao I would have taken half the fleet. I have done a clean install and currently I am not using tater's layers. The stock game has idiotic fleet commanders who like to run the fleet straight an packed. It makes it easy to use the charting tools and chonometer to position yourself nicely, especially at the normal difficulty setting, where you the identity and position of each ship in the formation.

Who cares about renown once he has a decent crew?
After the first patrol i started writing to some patriotic American firms and organisations who are willing,in change for their logo or advertisement on my conning tower,to sponsor for torpedoes and extra food for the men.
They,of course,are part in the credit of the hits we make on the Japs.

1)sailing into port with no sponsor on the tower
2)the second trip was sponsored by the Masonics of America
3)This time Coke trew in the torps. and sweets...

It's a way to bring some deversity,no?

15 Captain 32000 renown earned
16 Rear Admiral renown earned
17 Vice Admiral 50000 renown earned
18 Admiral 70000 renown earned
