Looking for some guidance...

I own both SH3 and SH4. I JUST got SH4 this past week (my birthday) along with Company of Heroes. CoH is a short game so I'm getting that out of the way first while my son is playing SH4 ahead of me (he's having some fun trying to get it working right in Vista and may go back to XP).

Anyway, I'm about to do a major upgrade of my PC to move from a bit of a dated P4 3.2 GHz system (with an ATI X800 that still seems to run most everything) on an Asus board and moving to an Intel D975XBX2 with a Quad core CPU. No need to provide much input here as these are coming to me without cost (long story).

My questions deal with perspectives and such.

I was playing SH3 but have been away from it for nearly a year. I had a single mod that essentially fixed the crew management stuff so that it didn't drive you nuts. That aspect of the game disappointed me a LOT. I LOVE the idea of individual crew and crew names with medals and such but not having to actually manage each one.

So, now that I've been away a year, what should I do?

Do I just install SH4 and forget about SH3? Do I mod up SH3 and play both? If I should mod it up, what should I look for? Being away this long clearly some major stuff has happened that I've missed. I see GWX mentioned here and there but haven't found what that is yet.

Also, in SH4 did they happen to do anything about the crew management aspects?

Thanks for any input here. Looking forward to seeing how much better things might run on the new setup over the older one.

The really funny thing is that I've heard horror stories about how things like Company of Heroes runs on most setups (brings them to their knees) and yet my "old" system runs it quite well. Still, I have to think that this new setup (still have to decide on video and memory) should run circles around the older setup.

Run SH3 with the GWX super mod, and install and enjoy SH4 patched to 1.2 (waiting for 1.3) and with one of the two big mods installed. I use the Trigger Maru mod plus about five other small mods.

Yeah, go for SH3 with GWX

Theres tons of fun in SH4 and you will be happy to see that they have changed the crew management alot - I think you will love it :D

Could you tell me what GWX is and exactly where to get it? I searched here but the search engine won't let you search for a short acronym like that.

I've been trying to finish the war in SH3 but you know how long that can take. I've been at it for some time before I took a break and still have about half the war to get through. Nearly died three different times so it's been quite a ride.

Thanks. Any idea if I can install this and benefit from it while continuing on in my current career?
