I just receive my copy of the Proceedings, there is slots of pzper about US submarine one from Joe Buff about the Diesel subs.

Thank you for that link MSgalileo ... I didn't see anything about diesel boats though. Why is that mast bent over in the picture of the USS Maine? Did the USS Navy invent something new? Like TopHat sonar to be able to hear behind them or is it air search radar?

I think the US Navy should build new submarine tenders that carry little diesel boats around with them like the Titanic had life boats. In a time of war the whole crew takes off on submarine missions and find a safe way home. Much like the US Airforce would have to do after flying attack missions.

I'm just an old arm chair Admiral ... what I need is a defense plant and someone on the inside to fund me. :lol:

On the website they didn't put all papers just some of them. For the mast is a fisheye distorsion, there is not a lot of place in the coning tower.

The Buff paper is an allegory to the Virginia class submarine, he compare SSK/SSI to the Virginia (+UAV) and conclude there is no better submarine than this one and SSK/SSI subs are not for the USN.
