[REL] Akitsu Rudder Fix
EDIT: download link in post #4
Hi all, as a little exercise in modelling the objects in SH4 I attempted to correct the CVEAkitsu rudder (when in a turn, the rudder swings 100 feet to port or starboard - completely seperated from the stern). To do this I used Pack3D to open the dat, I compared the position data of the Akitsu rudder with other ship rudders. Its first set of coordinates were x0 y0 z0, while otherships had real values here. I then opened the 3D models of the Akitsu and a few other ships and compared there rudder model. The position in wings 3d of other ships rudders was 0,0,0 while the akitsu's was positioned at the stern.. I made a note of the coordinates of the rudder in Wings3D and then moved the rudder model to the center x0,y0,z0. Then imported the model back into the dat using pack3d... Then.. I opened the new dat file and searched for the rudder node location of 0,0,0 and found it, and changed it to x = 0.0, y = -0.170397 z=-6.984188 .... Booted the game and looked at the rudder... http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/8...titled1td3.jpg As you can see the rudder is now attached to the ship during a turn!!!!! GREAT!!! But as you can also see, I have a texture problem and don't know how it occured or how to resolve it. Why is the model using new textures... Any help appreciated.. I want to move onto destoryers and maybe moving nodes, objects etc at some point.. EDIT: I think it is the mtl file... |
urgh...
think maybe the texture IS there... there is just another texture on top, looks like a the lightmap... I don't have any idea how the coords have changed for those textures... |
Maybe I am using the wrong version of pack3d..
I have just found another version, it looks better.. |
I DID IT!:o
Sorry for my excitement, this was quite a leap for me, not tried any pack3d stuff before, combined with 3D coordinates, hex-editing and some other things I'm not very good at.... Been working on this most of the evening, so quite a learning curve... and please I managed it, been meaning to take the plunge with dat files, models and textures but was putting it off.. http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/5...1053203oo2.jpg anyway, the CVE_Akitsu's rudder, now stays attached to the ship all the time and the lightmap, texture, normal map TMAP etc are back to normal!!:D While maybe not the most importnat bug, I'd noticed it and that was enough to annoy me.. If anybody wants this tiny bug fix here is a link: http://mpgtext.net/subshare/690NCVE_Akitsu.dat The dat file goes in your Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Sea\NCVE_Akitsu folder... What next.... Hmmm.. maybe some nodes for more ASW weapons on Jap DD's, fixing depth charge texture.. dunno yet... |
Not most important....true, but anytime someone such as yourself corrects a real error it is always worth it. Not knowing for sure if the devs are going to correct it with patch 1.3 at least we have this to fall back on. WELL DONE!!!

Awesome!
Soon you'll be making coastal shipping ;) tater |
maybe that new rudder came with a dazzle paint job lol.
very nice work, thank you. |
I took the liberty of JSGMEing this puppy since others have noticed the problem, but not the mod:
Akitsu Maru Rudder Fix http://mpgtext.net/subshare/736Akits...dder%20Fix.rar By Jace11 Akitsu's rudder is not connected to the ship. This mod replaces the dat and attaches the rudder. |
