[REL] Better Jungle and Trees

Well, we're still stuck with the cardboard-cutout trees leftover from SH3, but I finally got fed up of seeing those ridiculous colors and shapes. Trust a Finn to step up to this plate... :D After a lot of hours in Photoshop working from dozens of photographs I've redone the textures of the jungle trees and shrubbery to make them bushier, more detailed and more realistic-looking. No more uber-brown tree trunks!

Haven't touched the temperate trees because, well, I haven't seen one ingame yet. But when I do, I'm sure I'll mod them as well. :p

The jungle actually holds up to much closer scrutiny than before. Usually you'll just see all this from the distance of your bridge, but there's actually quite a lot of detail to the jungle now. :D

Obviously I can only test on my own rig, but for my part I haven't noticed any performance slowdowns. The textures are just as big as the originals. The only problem is a small, odd graphical scar that I just can't get rid of... but it's tiny, and I suppose can live with it.

If you notice anything odd, like a tree looking out of place somewhere along your patrol, do let me know (with a screenshot, for preference!)

Very nice! Now, can you get a few snipers in the trees who can take some shots at the sub as it passes?

Heheh. Nice.

 Yup super job. But it conflicts with Krillers Terrain and harbour mod. I think I will try to port some of this stuff over (personal use only) ;)
Ok had a look at the DDS, nice one:yep:
Maybe you and Kriller2 should team up ;)

Ah, I should have double-checked what everyone was up to...

My mod should still work - all you have to do is overwrite Kriller's mod: the only file to be changed is "Tree_kit.dds" (nice that all the trees are in the same place, but also annoying) so you can either modify Kriller's mod folder with my new Tree_kit.dds or use JGSME to activate my mod after his. Should work fine!

But to make things even smoother, I've PMed Kriller to ask him about teaming up... So there may be updates on the way! :D

Simply a beautiful job...well done! :yep:

Just a small informative update: I've tried this with Kriller's excellent harbor upgrade mod and it works fine. Just activate his mod before mine in JGSME and they both work perfectly. :D

So you can enjoy both!

Great work! Thanks a lot!

I'm releasing this as a modder's resource: it's still a valid mod (I recently installed it myself over Trigger Maru and ROW and it works fine) but I figured others might want to possibly include it into a larger graphical pack, in which case feel free... :D
