Return from hiatus, what's new?

Oy vei! It's been like... t..wo years? Perhaps that much. No, bit more than a year I think. :D
Can anyone be as super-friendly as to let me know what is new? When I left I had Harbor Mod 1.45 and Commander installed, took a glance at Grey Wolves (or something similar named) but figured I was content with the challenges already in existance for me in the game. Hollywood 2.1 is apparently also on my desktop, but never installed it. Flotilla Mod 1.4 seems present too, I think I might be using that. Or perhaps I'm not. Who knows!'
So, yes... Thanks bunches in advance! :arrgh!:

Edit: Please tell me there are 1400 new, beautiful models of warships, that English subs are controllable and that there is a Norwegian Fjord mod!!!!!!!

Welcome back UJ. GWX is the super mod de jour with lots (maybe not 1400) of new ships and plenty of AI and graphical goodies to keep any kaleun happy for months on end. check out the mods threads for more as there are some interesting things going on.

There is a Norops campaign in progress but I'm not sure if it includes fjords per se. No control over the english although there is a controllable english sub somewhere around but still on the German side.

Someone has built a mod you can DL to open the hatch between the control room and the captain's cabin/radio/hydrophone stations which looks good but is not quite there yet.

Loads of other bits and pieces as well.

Would be nice with some familiar scenery, mate....thats for sure!

TarJak 06-01-07 06:28 AM

Oh yes and much much more!

You will need to adjust your tactics as well as the AI changes make it a very different experience to stock or most of the other mods.

Ula Jolly 06-01-07 06:37 AM

I can't seem to find a list of all the ships included in GWX 1.03. Any such thing in existance?:hmm:

TarJak 06-01-07 06:41 AM

I think there is a list of the new ones in the PDF manual that comes with the DL. I think this is the list that expands on what was already in stock and TGW (an earlier rendition of Grey Wolves). I'll see if I can find a link to a list somewhere. IIRC there is one in the mods threads somewhere.

Check this thread which is fairly comprehensive list of the 3D models that are either out or in progress. Quite a lot of these have found there way into GWX in some form or other.

Have a look at the GWX Manual to see what you will be missing if you don't have it ;)

I also want to point out that there are more 'physical' tools than ever to help you with manual targeting. Head and shoulders above all though is Hitman's Kriegsmarine Whiz Wheel/IS-WAS. Here is what both sides look like:

The thread to download it so that you can print it out and assemble it is here:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...highlight=whiz

The front side is based on an actual Kriegsmarine torpedo calculator thingy, while the back side is a circular slide rule based on the American IS-WAS back side, modified and interpreted by Hitman to conform with the color scheme and general format of the front side.
