Heavy seas and the bridge watch?

The graphics show heavy seas sweeping over the bridge. So, do you leave your watch up there or do you cancel the watch? If you cancel the watch do you still run on the surface? Do you raise your scope to have some spotting? Or do you dive and wait out the storm submerged?

Thanks.

I leave my men up there until they are weak as kittens and being thrashed about on their safety lines. I don't care about their safety. I care about results. And if they complain about it I've got a Luger in my cabin that will persuade them otherwise....

Some sailors say my u-boat resembles a charnel house the way I run things. But I call it home.

I can tell that the Party doesn't need to include a political officer among your crew. :)

LOL! Good point....

I like the sound of this officer, he can be my 2ic anytime

Depends on my mood. If I need to get some air back into the tanks, then I will send some up to test their underwater breathing skills. Iron Budokan has the right idea...though I prefer the threat of keel hauling to help with the morale of my crew :arrgh!:

When it gets really bad, I submerge and use the hydrophones, but if you try that, don't run for too long underwater, or when you do actually find something, you'll have no juice left in your batteries for an engagement.

If any of my crew complain about having to stand a bridge watch, well, they shouldn't have joined should they? and in any case, at least they escape the smell of the bilge and can have a cigarette, always assuming they can light it in a force ten gale :rotfl:

:D Chock

my crew stands on the bridge for days... in good or bad weather...

they dont dare to complain becouse i already shot one of them

Hakahura 05-28-07 06:24 PM

Jochen Mohr you shot one of them?

Expending your Luger on Bernard does not count!

Exactly... Bernard is immortal..like Homer Simpson, but less enjoyable and no fun to be around.

he was complaining about the harbour raids. gave short orders then..

"surface, watch crew and Johan on bridge" took my luger and fired...
then continued to scapa flow

Back to your question :arrgh!:

When on the surface you must have at least one crewman on watch...the game gives you no choice :nope:
A storm generally means an accompanying loss or drop in visibility, so you are probably better off submerging at say 2 knots and listening with your hydrophones

I train my watch crew to hold their breath.
Then again I like the Luger idea.

My Luger is strapped to my side at all times and if one of the crew complains, they get the "wet Watch" until they are darn tired drenched, then I help them sleep it off? Then they can join the dolphins.
