SH4 clothes
Well I know that if I were in the heat of the Pacific, I will only were a shirt or nothing. But as far as there is a war , I think that the sailors should wore their uniforms. I like more the clothes they are dressed in SH3 wich are more ''formal''
I wish there was a mod which would made SH4 clothes like SH3 |
Give it time, this will happen:yep:

Seriously
From the reading that I have done, crews at sea uniform consisted of work dungarees for enlisted men-- denim jeans, shorts t-shirts and work boots.
Uniforms for officers did not appear to be well-- uniform, informal khakis to civilian clothing. The representation in SH4 seems relatively acurrate, if overrepresentative of long pants, they all seem to be wearing them. From the preceding pictures, Captain Cox clearly has issues:rotfl: Thanks CDR Resser |
I feel ill after that screensot.:dead:

Sorry guys, had a...lets call it "moment" there.
Back to the uniforms. If you are locked up in a tin can for over a month or more with 50+ men...I think wearing a tie and uniform jacket becomes a pretty distant memory. If you read "Das Boot" from Lothar-Günther Buchheim (sure you have), there is a scene when the boat bunkers in Vigo. The Captain on the "milk cow" makes a mistake and welcomes the "Eins WO" (First Officer) as the U-Boat Captain, because "Der Alte" (the old man) looks so scruffy in hes old worn out sweater..."like a beggar" Buchheim writes. Some pic of the guys: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ox/0821304.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ox/0822516.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ox/0823915.jpg This pic I would say is more of a posing shot, or maybe the boat was at port. You rarely see Officers wearing ties in any photos or films from the period. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1.../0822524-1.jpg Also check the interior in the game, there are A LOT of fans everywhere, you can see one in the 2nd pic. I think they where there for a reason ;) On this subject i have done a "US NAVY OFFICER HAT" and added "RANKS INSIGNIA" to the officers collars here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=115623 |

CaptainCox has hit the issue square on the head. There's a reason why every branch of the military has "work" uniforms - because you're supposed to work in them! I certainly never wore my "Class A" uniform while in Iraq, because it would've been utterly impractical to do so, not to mention my comrades would've never stopped laughing. :shifty:
Long story short - the dev team got the uniforms (other than the officer's caps) right. Having the crew wear formal uniforms while in the middle of a war zone would look downright silly. |
