Torpedo camera

Hi All

Just got SH4 and have been learning how to do stuff - I have not downloaded the patches yet - but I seem to get a lot of frame freezing for a moment or 2
System AMD 3000+ and a ATI 9800 graphics card and 1GB main memory - do the patches solve this or is my system just not upto it.

One of the features of SH3 I liked was the torpedo camera - I just liked watching the torpedos hit home! Also the navigation centre no longer seems to show torpedo tracks any more - or have I missed something .... I didn't enjoy SH3 much - my dad was on Blue Funnel ships during the war '41-45 and sinking Allied shipping would make him turn in his grave!

Can't answer your question about performance, but regarding torpedos-

the torpedo cam is still in there, you have to check in the realism settings before you leave port to check that its enabled. Though it doesn't always pop up, seems kind of random to me.
As for the torpedo tracks, thats a well known problem that might be addressed if ubisoft deem us worthy of a 1.3 patch. Otherwise, Ducimus' 'Maru Trigger' mod fixes it apparently, you can find that on the forum somewhere with a search

i've found that the torpedo cam works in quick battle, not career:-?

Torpedo Cam

Torpedo cam works also in Career (provided you set up the Events Cam Option on the Options Screen in the Career Port Briefing Room.)

Your system is going to prove to be marginal. I've got an overclocked X2 3800+, an overclocked 7600GT, and 1.5 gig of ram and there are times when my frame rate drops below 10. Close all non essential programs. I use a program called End it All 2.

2 GHs of good matched RAM, newer 256MB graphics card, and a CPU comprable to a minimun of a P4 2.8 or above should be good. But a 3.0 or higher, or a Dual core would be better. Plus keeping Windows XP as your OS helps too. ;)

I'm running a P4 3.2E, 2 GH of matched DDR RAM, a XFX 6800XTreme 256MB DDR3 256 bit card and frame rates seemed fine with SH4 when I had it installed.

What's overclock? Is it to over something?
