What is happening?
Here, on subsim.com? What's up with these petitions, release this, release that? First for the patch, now SDK, then for DW.... Don't get me wrong, M2 will be very happy for the patch although I have no major issues at all, maybe radar, but I could wait as I'm in the mid-february 1942 capaign... But this is forcing and pressure for patch-makers...Game is stable now, we don't even have sinking-to-the-bottom effect, so, radar and chronometer are major bugs? It adds to the realism, but, hey, we want a working patch, don't we? I suggest a cease-fire until we get a confirmation is it under works...
Send UBI a list of bugs that are HIGH priority, and check ubi forums on the status... Forcing a rushed product has never been good... So, we lay low and enjoy this sim. I wanted to take a screenshot of a sunset, but then I clipboarded something else... The sim is beautifull. It is. I just see these posts: 1. I'm gonna put SH4 until patch 1.1/1.2/1.3/1.4 arrives... 2. Unfinished product.... 3. Petition to ubi 4. Sue UBI I respect other opinions, but stuff like these should be done in one thread, so when it counts 50+ pages, UBI/devs are gonna look at it... My opinion with all respect. GG:|\\ |
But there is possibility (and fear) that Ubi wont give us next patch - thats where all those threads came from.
|
I fully understand, I'm just saying that screaming RELEASE PATCH NOW!!!!!!!! won't do any good as the UBI dudes at work may think we are not gratefull for a sim that is being presented.... The same scenario was with the SH3...:88)
|
I agree with you - people should calm down a little. But i also understand all those "screamers" - its been 2 months since SH4 release, 2 patches, we are waiting for third one, and suddenly Ubi announced there may not be v1.3 and dont know if we want it...
Its weird situation so weird things are happenning on Subsim.com  |

by the way: what up with the Serbian nationalism in your sig? |
Probably they have high priority projects under way....
Whatever the case, I think ubi needs time... People have right to have a fully functional product they paid for, but then again, they should give those guys at ubi a litle break... |
Now as the first PC Gaming Mags are beginning to pick up the issue (UBI cheating its customers) IMHO it would the wrong strategy to 'calm down'...

1. I did not paid for the game, I was given by a lead project manager since here at Montenegro THERE IS NO company or anything to buy original software, go figure, it's all warez...Since I was banned for using pirated version, I was given copy as a gift from Ubisoft Romania. 2. Since "demoncrats" took over Serbia and Montenegro, nationalism is nothing more than a myth... But since is nationalism measured by supporting or not supporting UBI... IMHO, it is better to have "half-finished" product than not at all... It should be patched to reasonable standards, I just disagree to the latest posts about this issue.... I think many UBI guys are reading this "undercover" and they know the situation, just to give these guys more time. IF they decide to not to release a patch, then flame them, give this issue on gamespot, ign, gamespy, cnn, youtube, you name it... That would get people's attention... I think it's premature to think the project was dropped...:88) |

Amen. And GakunGak, please remember to seperate the Publisher (Ubisoft) from the actual dev team (Romania). I also must assume you missed the announcement where the Ubisoft Community Manager said to the world.... "We realize that this is a less than ideal situation, but the only options that we have available is 1) Fight for patch 1.3, or 2) Get nothing." Yes, both entities will see these threads. And the dev team that made this game has already expressed they want to make the 1.3 patch. The Publisher is contemplating (or has already decided) to not allow them to do it, and thus stiff us, the consumer, on getting a final finished and proper product. This is exactly the moment to stand up and have a 'Boston Tea Party' of sorts, while there is some momentum to be heard. This releasing unfinished games issue is becoming more and more of a problem in the industry, and in actuality, Silent Hunter 4 is one of the first incidents to really start getting to get major attention in the gaming magazines. Up until now, all UBI had to worry about was whiny gamers in counterstrike type forums crying almost silently, easily ignored. But now, some real and credible criticism from important sources is starting to surface. Now UBI may have to take notice, as their reputation is being hit not just by whiny kids in a forum, but by industry powerhouses like PC Gamer, etc. This my actually be our one shot to be heard. This may be our one chance to not only get this game fixed, but to actually cause a change in the way publishers abuse developers. We'd better speak up now, loud and proud, or go home with our heads low and accept the fact that we will be forced to continue to buy unfinished hyped up pieces of crap while Ubisoft laughs all the way to the bank. So, cue up some theme music and let's march to Ubi's front door...... |
I made a mistake for not seperating the dev team which are the guys that deserve RESPECT!!!!!!
But, UBI made a lot of money out of SH4. Now, if the patch is rushed this way, they are gonna fix some bugs in 1.3 and case will be closed. Then what? Launch a TLAM on UBI HQ?:dead: |
Well what bothers me is the ugly split and feelings in the community. I hate that with a passion.

Again, you missed some information in previous posts. It has been officially stated by Ubisoft that we only have until May 28th for this decision to be made. That is 6 days away now. It is not about rushing the patch, it is about the decision to make the patch. |
In that case, write to the main UBI forum with a list of supporters for te patch and flood UBI mailbox.... Still, I don't think they are gonna let us down...:ping:
